Do you ever have days when you wonder where it's all heading?
Sorry to be so philosophical, but surely I can't be the only person to experience such feelings?!
Each day I catch up on my blog-reading to be inspired and motivated by some of my favourite photographers. Most days after having my daily dose of "photographic vitamins and minerals" I am eager to pick up my camera and shoot away. But just occasionally, I sit back and think... "Wow! They are just soooooooooo out of my league! Will I ever experience half of what they have achieved?". I mean, here are a group of people that produce some uber-cool and fantastic images, have a blast while doing so, and get paid to do what they love. Will I ever get to experience such a life? Sometimes I wonder...
And each day I look at my husband, and again I am in awe. Leon can pick up a camera, in any situation, and create an image that just makes you go "Ooohhh, wow!". I want to be able to do that too! Like a child trying to imitate their super-hero, I pick up my camera and shoot away, only to compare my results and undoubtedly *sigh*. Leon will look at my images and will provide invaluable feedback. Some times he will praise my efforts. Other times he may offer words of advice but in a way that makes me more determined to do it again and do it right! "Practice is the key", Leon offers, "You can't expect to get it right straight away. Every situation will challenge a photographer, but from experience you will know what to do and how to capture your image".
So as from today, I promise to pick up my camera and shoot away. I may not shoot hundreds of images every day, but I vow to practice and practice and (hopefully) "perfect" this art! Everyone has to start somewhere, right? So here I begin...
